Joseph Priest's postmill was only worked for a few years before he died and the mill was then advertised for sale on the basis that it should be dismantled and removed.

When Joseph Priest snr died c.1812, Joseph Priest jnr inherited the mill, with his brother Thomas Priest inheriting Gt Massingham postmill.

On Wednesday & Thursday 11 & 12 March 1812 on the Premises late in the occupation of Mr. Joseph Priest, at Castleacre, Norfolk, deceased,
All his Live & Dead STOCK … flour bins, minging troughs, scale beams, iron & other weights, quantity of flour sacks, bushel, mill bills, brock, sack rope, chain, crowe, sack barrow & the usual variety of milling implements.
Household Furniture …
Household Furniture will be sold on the first day & the … sacks etc. on the last day & each day’s sale will begin precisely at eleven o’c.
Also will be Sold by Auction
At the Ostrich in Castleacre aforesaid at 8 o’c in the evening of the above second day’s sale
All that Capital New erected Post WIND MILL complete as it now stands, late the property of the aforesaid Joseph Priest.

To be Sold by Auction. By S. Sudbury At the Ostrich at Castleacre in Norfolk On Friday 5 March next at 3 o'c if not sooner disposed of by private contract.
All that new & well built POST WINDMILL with the utensils thereto belonging at Castleacre in Norfolk, late in the occupation of Joseph Priest deceased. The purchaser to remove the same. Apply to Mr. Yarrington of Swaffham or the Auctioneer.
