Downham Market had a towermill in Cowgate Street that was later renamed Bridge Street.

To be Sold by Auction on 1 February at the White Hart, Downham Market. An estate comprising a messuage and old established baking office in Cowgate Street, Downham Market, with a piece of land adjoining and a capital new erected Tower Windmill thereupon standing, and going geers thereto belonging, late in the occupation of Mr. Robert Green, the proprietor. To be Sold by Auction By Elsey & Bird On Monday 1 February 1808

At the house of Mr. Isaac Bell, known by the sign of the White Hart in Downham Market aforesaid, between the house of 6 & 8 in the evening (Unless sooner disposed of by Private Contract)

A Compact & desirable ESTATE comprising a messuage & old established baking office with stable & other outbuildings thereto belonging, situate in Cowgate Street in Downham Market aforesaid, together with the yards, garden, orchard & piece of land thereto adjoining, containing by estimation one acre, with a capital new erected Tower Windmill thereon standing & going gears thereto belonging, late in the occupation of Mr. Robert Green, the proprietor.

The Messuage & baking office are in good repair & the windmill is most substantially built & in complete repair having been erected only five years.

The premises adjoin the parsonage lane, from which there is a back entrance & from the contiguity of the mill to the dwelling house, the same are well situated for occupation; & being in a good corn country, the premises altogether form a desirable situation for a miller & baker, the latter of which trades having been carried on there for many years & both trades since the erection of the Mill. The above will be sold together or in lots as may be agreed on at the time of sale. Possession may be had immediately.
