Feltwell smockmill stood in Mill Drift although in the 1700s this was known as Mill Lane. The mill was possibly built as a replacement for the earlier postmill.

Mentioned as Mill Lane in Indenture dated 17 October 1729 relating to South Hall Manor.
1837 Tithe Map shows mill as smock mill.

Inclosure Award 1815, mill in possession of Heading family.
The Story of Feltwell - A. J. Orange, 1970

The Heading family also owned Wilton Road postmill and Wilton Road towermill.
