Harpley postmill stood outside the village to the southeast. The mill ran a single pair of stones and a horse flour mill with a 16 foot wheel was also used on the premises.


Will of William Brooke dated 18th September 1790 and proved at Houghton on 27th October 1792

Executors:- Wife Ann & John Youngs, Houghton, farmer
Messuages, Land, Tenements & Hereditaments & premises to Wife for life, then to children & Wm. Catton, her son by former husband.
When Wm. Catton 21, to convey to Wife & children "All that piece of land lying in Harpley aforesaid wheron my windmill stands now erected."

A Capital POST WIND-MILL eligibly situated for trade in Harpley in the county of Norfolk, with one pair of stones, going geers, flour mill & a granary adjoining the mill, which will contain 30 lasts of corn, all in good repair, together with a piece of Freehold land belonging to the same, lately occupied by Mr. William Catton.
The fixtures & utensils in the mill to be taken at valuation.
