Hevingham smockmill stood to the west of the Norwich road. The mill used patent sails to power three pairs of stones - two pairs of 4ft French burr stones, one pair of 3ft Derby Peak stones and a flour mill. |
Jonathan Knights jnr, miller at Hevingham was born c.1787, possibly the son of Jonathan Knights snr miller at a postmill in Carleton_Rode. Jonathan Knights snr had married Phoebe Hinchley in Carleton Rode on 26th November 1786 and he died intestate in 1801. |

Burrell & Son are instructed to Sell by Auction on Monday November 1, 1869 at the Fox Inn, Hevingham, a Smock Tower Windmill with Patent Sails, winding Tackling, three Pairs of Stones, viz. two Pair of 4 feet French Burrs & one Pair of 3 feet Derbyshire Peak Stones, sack Tackling, Flour Mill & all going gear complete. The whole to be Sold as standing. To be taken down by & at the Purchaser's expense. If not sold in one lot, it will be divided into lots & sold to the best bidders. Sale to commence at 3 o'c.
