Mundham

Mundham postmill stood to the northeast of the village. The mill had a roundhouse and in 1852 was using one pair of common sails and one pair of patent sails to drive 2 pairs of French burr stones. By 1901 the mill had two pairs of patent sails. |
At Mundham mill belonging to Mr. W. Brown of Sizeland two children one aged three, other five playing in yard when sails knocked down girl. Boy ran to her assistance also struck by sails and killed. Girl died soon afterwards. |
Amelia Pitcher aged 3½ and Rober Pitcher aged 4¾ were killed by the mill saiils on 30th July 1819 and were buried in Mundham church graveyard on 1st August 1819. |

Uriah Tibbenham was the brother of James Tibbenham, miller at Kirstead postmill. |
James Thurston was miller at Earsham_watermill in the mid 1850s. He was born c.1802-05 in South Elmham and married Sarah Fairhead. They had some 15 children, one of whom was possibly George Thurston who was a miller's apprentice in 1841 living in South Elmham, before moving to Mundham by 1861. |
