MONDAY'S THUNDERSTORM (16 July)
Shipdham As a precursor to the thunderstorm the wind blew a perfect hurricane, causing an immense cloud of dust to rise ... Then came a deluge of rain with lightning and thunder. Towads the end of the storm the electric fluid struck the mill occupied by Mr. C. Rushbrooke, bendiong the guiding rod of one of the sails and quite demolishing the winding fan and throwing the fragment to some distance. Mrs. Rushbrooke, the proprietor's mother, who was near at the time, had a most miraculous escape. Dereham & Fakenham Times - Saturday 21st July 1900
