Surlingham towermill stood to the south of the village. The 4 storey mill used patent sails to power 3 pairs of French burr stones, Auxiliary power was supplied by a small steam engine. |

Lot 3. A substantially erected Brick TOWER WINDMILL with four Floors, Patent Sails, three pairs of French Stones and capital Machinery. Also Mill Yard upon which are erected a MILLER's COTTAGE, FLOUR HOUSE, and GRANARY with piece of Garden Ground adjoining containing altogether 1r. 1p. in the occupation of Mr. John Diggens.
