Watlington postmill was working during at least the 1600s and 1700s. It was eventually replaced by a new towermill that was built beside it by Osborne Heading in 1824. |

In the name of God amen I Henry Dynes of Stoke Ferry in the County of Norwich do make this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) First I give and devise unto Harriet my wife all and every my messuages or tenements windmill with the tackle and going gears to the same belonging land herdilaments and premises with their appententences situated lying and being in Stoke Ferry aforesaid or any parish or place thereunto or area adjoining To hold the same unto the said Harriet my wife and her assigns for and during the term of her mortal life she keeping the said messuages or tenements and buildings mill and premises in good and tenantable repair from and immediately after her disease I give and devise the said messuages or tenements Mill land and premises with their .. Appententences unto Henry Dynes and Francis Dynes my two sons their heirs and assigns as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and as to all my stocks in trade income of my trade book debts and chattels monies crops of corn growing and severed at the time of my decease and all other my personal --- estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever the same may be I give and bequeath the same unto my executrix and executor and the survivor of them upon the trusts and to and for the intents and purposes hereinafter --- mentioned (that is to say) upon trust that they will as soon as conveniently can be after my - decease get in and convert the said personal estate and effects unto the most ready money that can or may be made of the same and in the first place do and shall pay thereout all my just debts my funeral expenses the expense of the probate of this will and all other incidental charges and encumbrances and then upon trust to pay the residue and remainder of the said monies to arise as aforesaid to the said Harriet my wife her executor and administrators to and for he own use and benefit my said wife maintaining educating and supporting my said children and putting placing and apprenticing them respectively in or to any trade business or employment as to my said wife shall seem meet and I appoint the said Harriet my wife and Osborne Heading of --- Watlington in the said county miller my brother in law executrix and executor of this my will and I direct my said wife shall have the custody tuition and guardianship of my said children during their respective minorities and I revoke all former wills by me made and declare this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Henry Dynes the testator have to this my last will and testament contained in this one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this seventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four. |

This will was proved at Wareham on the 18th day of May 1827 before the Revd James Royle Clk surrogate duly appointed of the Worshipful William George Clk AM Official principal of the Episcopal Consistorial Court of Norwich lawfully constituted and was approved etc & administered of all & singular the good etc of the within named Henry Dynes the Testator deceased was then duly granted to Harriet Dynes widow his relict and Osborn Heading Testator's brother in law the executrix and executor with named they being duly sworn & saving & |
