North mill was was a small 3 storey mill, originally built as one of an open group of three mills, along with Cadge's_Mill and Polkey's_Mill to drain water from Reedham marshes up into the River Yare.
It was the first of the three mill to cease working and had stopped before 1904.

In 1881, the landowner John Rose commissioned Richard Barnes to build Reedham Marsh Steam Engine House where as single cylinder horizontal coal fired steam engine drove a turbine when there was insufficient wind for the mills.
